Divine Dice Bag Crochet Pattern Inspiration
My partner plays DnD with his friends every other Wednesday. It’s via Zoom these days, but we still needed a storage bag for the DnD game dice. Technically the dice came with their own small, sh*tty pouch, but a crochet bag is way cuter.
There are some super cool DnD dice bag crochet patterns out there (like this dragon egg dice bag from Cindy de Vries), but I decided to design my own beginner-friendly pattern. Thus, the Divine Dice Bag was born!

I’ve been on a lemon peel stitch kick lately, so of course I had to incorporate it into the Divine Dice Bag crochet pattern. Don’t you love the nubby texture the lemon peel stitch creates?! Ugh, so yummy. And since the lemon peel stitch repeats and alternates single and double crochets, you can crochet this cute dice bag using only basic stitches. Hooray for simplicity!
While this dice bag was designed for DnD dice storage, you can use yours to store any small items like make-up, crochet tools, trinkets, or small toys. I’ve been using one of my pouches to store a new set of wooden stitch markers I made with my laser cutter.
Tools Needed to Crochet the Divine Dice Bag Pattern
I chose Dishie Cotton from WeCrochet, one of my fave worsted weight yarns. It’s less prone to splitting than many other cotton yarns. My Ripple Dish Towel has been used and abused over the last three-ish years and it still looks great!
The sample dice bags feature the Azure (large) and Mulberry (small) colors of Dishie, but there are so many color choices on the website! If you don’t have Dishie on hand, you can sub out another worsted weight cotton yarn, like Lily Sugar n Cream or Premier Home Cotton.
Once you have your Dishie cotton yarn, grab a 4.0 mm crochet hook. Mine came from WeCrochet’s Dots hook set. The Dots hooks were released a couple months ago and they’re super popular. First of all, they’re adorable. Second of all (and probably more importantly), they’re easy to crochet with. The smooth metal glides through stitches and doesn’t snag the yarn. Finally, the price is excellent, especially considering the hook quality. It’s only $25 for nine hooks.
How to Crochet the DnD Dice Bag
This is a simple crochet dice bag pattern that’s perfect for beginners. First, we’ll crochet a circular base of double crochet stitches. The body of the dice bag is crocheted using the lemon peel stitch, which gives it a bit of a bumpy texture. When the bag is done, you’ll crochet a drawstring to tie the bag closed and keep your dice from spilling out.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
These are the most common questions about crochet dice bag patterns.
What’s a good size for a dice bag?
It all depends on how many dice you want to store. The dice bag crochet pattern above features two sizes, small (3.5 x 4 inches) and large (4 x 5 inches). These can hold a lot of dice. However, if you have 100 game dice in your collection, Dark Elf Dice recommends a larger bag (5 x 7 inches).
