If you’re following along in the Newbie Series, congratulations! You’ve made it through the single crochet unit. Whether you need a little more practice with single crochets or you just love free patterns, I’ve rounded up a bunch of single crochet patterns for beginners.

These 16 patterns are all for beginners. Some use standard single crochet, and some feature variations like the linen stitch (aka moss stitch aka granite stitch) and single crochet mesh (created with ch/sc repeats, similar to the linen stitch). One also includes slip stitches, which we learned about in our lesson on continuous rounds.
There are a few techniques (like changing colors and increasing/decreasing) that we haven’t covered yet, but those are coming soon! You’ll be able to crochet every pattern in this round-up by the end of the 30-day series.

Supplies / Materials
Your supplies from the Newbie Series will get you pretty far in this round-up! Some require different yarn (DK, bulky, and super bulky) or larger hooks (K 6.5 mm and L 8.0 mm), but the majority of the patterns can be crocheted using:
- worsted weight cotton yarn (like Dishie)
- worsted weight acrylic yarn (like Brava)
- a hook from the Bright Hook Set (nine hooks from 2.0 mm – 6.0 mm)
Don’t you love it when you already have the materials on hand?!
