Here’s the modified daisy granny square pattern!
Round 1: Using gold yarn, make a magic ring, ch 2, 11 dc into the ring.
To make a magic ring, hold the yarn tail between your thumb and middle finger (-1-), wrap the yarn around your fingers once.
Put your crochet hook under the bottom section of yarn, and over the top section. (-2-)
Pull the yarn through. (-3-)
Ch 2. (-4- and -5-)
11 dc into the ring (-6-)
Gently pull on the tail end of the yarn, to close the ring. (-7- and -8-)
Finish off with an invisible join or sl st to the first dc. Trim yarn and weave in ends. (-9-)
TIP: It’s easiest to make a bunch of Round 1, then finish off a bunch of Round 2, etc. Then you don’t have to keep switching between yarn or interrupting your crochet groove with a different pattern of stitches.
Round 2: Join the pale yellow yarn between any two dc. Ch 2, dc2tog (YO, insert hook into the space between 2 dc, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops. YO, insert in same space, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops. YO and pull through all 3 loops.), ch 1.
Between the next 2 dc, dc3tog (YO, insert hook into the space between 2 dc, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops. YO, insert in same space, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops. YO, insert in same space, pull up a loop. YO, pull through 2 loops. YO and pull through all 4 loops.), ch 2.
*dc3tog, ch 1 (twice), dc3tog, ch 2 at the corner.* Repeat * section 2 more times. dc3tog, ch 1.
Connect to the first dc with a sl st or invisible join. Trim yarn and weave in ends.
Round 3: Connect the charcoal yarn one space before a corner. Ch 2, 2 dc in the same space. In the corner, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc. *3 dc in next space, 3 dc in next space. In corner, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc.* Repeat * section 2 more times. 3 dc in next space.
Connect to first dc with a sl st or an invisible join. Trim yarn and weave in ends.
That’s it! Super easy, right? I made 16 squares for my daisy pillow, but these would make a beautiful spring afghan or baby blanket. I used the same colors each time, but granny squares are fab for stash-busting, you could make your flowers all different colors and really burn through some old yarn!
