The Beer
Begin with a magic ring, using gold yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc into the magic ring. Join to first sc with sl st, ch 1 and turn. (6)
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. Join to first sc with sl st, ch 1 and turn. (12)
Round 3: *2 sc, 1 sc,* repeat 5 more times. Join to first sc with sl st, ch 1 and turn. (18)
Round 4: *2 sc, 1 sc, 1sc,* repeat 5 more times. Join to first sc with sl st, ch 1 and turn. (24)
Round 5: *2 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc,* repeat 5 more times. Join to first sc with sl st, ch 1 and turn. (30)
Round 6: In back loops only, 1 sc in each stitch around. (30)
You should start to see a lip forming. Continue crocheting in the round, without chaining and turning.
Round 7 – 18: In both loops, 1 sc in each stitch around. (30)
To finish off, 1 sl st into the next 3 stitches. Trim yarn and weave in ends.
The Foam and the Handle
Attach white yarn to the top of the cozy, in both loops.
Round 1: Ch 1, 1 sc in each stitch around. (30)
Instead of joining to the first sc, ch 19.
Round 2: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch and in each stitch around. (19 + 30)
Ch 1 and turn
Round 3: 1 sc in each in each stitch around, 2 sc in final stitch of the handle.
Join to front loops of the bottom of the cozy, 1 sc in each st around.
Join to first sc with sl st or invisible join.
Trim yarn and weave in ends, making sure to secure the bottom of the handle.
With a small piece of white yarn, whip stitch the foam section closed. Trim yarn and weave in ends.
And that’s it! Insert beer into cozy, raise beer to mouth, and drink! But not too much, you don’t want to get puke on your new beer mug beer cozy!!
