Ready? Okay!

First thing’s first — get out your computer! If you’re not already on it. Which you most likely already are. Because this is the interwebs.

Head to Color Mandala (http://colormandala.com).

Once you reach Color Mandala, you’ll see a page that looks like the one above. If you want to make your own mandala coloring pages (who doesn’t?!) click on “Design New.”

You can create an account if you want to (it’s super easy to sign up with Facebook), which will allow you to save all your mandalas on the site (either as drafts or final versions). Don’t worry if you don’t want to make an account, you can continue without one and still be able to download your mandalas.

Clicking “Design New” will bring you to a big, blank canvas with an “Add Shape” drop-down menu. There are a lot of different shape options — some are self-explanatory (like a circle), but some aren’t. Play around with this to figure out what shapes you’d like to add to your mandala! I started off by adding a flower with 12 petals.

You can move around the design boxes or change the size so they aren’t in your way. I like to push them both off to the side.

You can’t physically move the shapes (they all automatically have the same center point), but you can change the size, number of sides, distance between parts (like on the overlapping circles tool), and rotation.

Clicking on a shape layer and then the “Clone Shape” button will make an identical copy of the same shape. I like to use this to change the rotation of a shape, or to make a shape slightly smaller or larger.

Within the designer box, you can also rearrange layers by dragging and dropping, or delete layers you don’t like (just click the little red X next to each name). When you have a certain layer selected, it will change color so you can see it really clearly (that’s why the circles in the back are blue).

Get creative! There are so many different options for creating your mandala coloring page, and the only way to find them is to try a lot of different things out. Worst case scenario, just delete it!

How long it takes to finish depends on how decisive you are. The first mandala I made took forever (okay, so maybe like half an hour) because I was experimenting with all the different tools and shapes. The example I made (in the screenshots) took less than five minutes. It’s all on you, baby!

When you do finish for real, you can click “Save” and save the mandala to your Color Mandala account as either a draft or a final version. I usually do both because it doesn’t hurt, and who knows what I’ll think of tomorrow??

If you’re ready to get your coloring on, click “Actions” on the top bar and you can download as either a PDF or a JPG file. FYI, the PDF has the Color Mandala URL at the bottom. I don’t really care about that, but figured I should let you know!

If you’d rather color IRL, print off your bangin’ new mandala creation, grab your Prismacolor colored pencils (my favorite!!), and get to coloring!

You might also want to consider making teeny mandalas, then you can craft these adorable coloring page magnets I saw on Average But Inspired. Too cute!

It’s not quite the same as coloring with markers or colored pencils, but Color Mandala also has the option to color digitally. On the homepage, just click on “Color” and you can choose from a crapload of pre-made mandala designs. I’m trying to figure out if these were made using the same Color Mandala system — because they look so good!

The coloring system lets you choose colors (obvs), but the most important part is the “Cursor Count,” which lets you multiply your cursor. I selected 4, which meant I could color in four areas at a time (those teeny tiny circles over the gold area showed me where my color would go). My mandala is coming along swimmingly, if I do say so myself!

When you make or color your mandalas, share ’em with me on social media! Tweet @youshouldcraft or share it on the YSC Facebook Page!
